With MC-FP comes the option of extending the original seven-year certificate to ten years. In order to extend this certificate, Diplomates must complete MC-FP requirements by specified deadlines. If the deadlines are not met in a timely fashion, the Diplomate will continue to be certified for seven years. Regardless of which option the Diplomate chooses, there are MC-FP requirements that must be completed prior to applying for the next recertification exam.

IMPORTANT: If you certified or recertified in 2005, you have only until the end of 2008 to complete the necessary requirements for Stage I (2 SAMs and 1 Part IV Module or 3 SAMs) to remain on track for the three-year extension needed to comprise a ten-year certification.
